Music discovery tips for indoor cycling instructors
if your music discovery feels last minute, rushed or unorganized…
There’s a better way! And a system doesn’t have to take up hours of your time.
Here’s my top tips - that you can implement TODAY - to make music discovery feel like less of a chore.
Create a passive listening playlist in your music service(s)
Passive listening is what we do when we’re doing other things - chores, at the gym, running errands, etc. If you have a singular playlist, you can just press play and be sifting through songs. You might be surprised by how much you can get through!
Let the algorithms do the heavy lifting
Every music source has some level of algorithm-based recommendations based on your listening. USE THEM. On Spotify, Release Radar is my personal favorite playlist, and the recommendations at the bottom of my existing playlists. On SoundCloud, there’s a Weekly and Daily Drops playlist.
If you’re new to the music service, find people to follow and like a few tracks ASAP to get the algorithm working for you.
